VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – You can now roam the halls of Vancouver Community College from the comfort of your home as the Broadway campus is now live on Google Street View.

The search giant’s team was on campus last year to capture the street-level pictures — letting you navigate through buildings and corridors on Google Maps.

“They use a car, which people may have seen on their own streets near their home and they use the car to drive around the perimeter of the building,” explains Tina Chow with VCC. “Then they have what they call a ‘trike’ that they use in corridors and hallways, so you get a sense of the inside of the campus as well.”

She says this is a way to showcase the school overseas.

“To our international students in particular, because international students sitting any where in the world can now view this and have a better idea of what to expect when they come to study at VCC,” notes Chow. “They can share this with their parents and relatives and friends and say ‘Hey, this is where I’m going to be studying.’”

VCC is hoping this helps increase the amount of international students it already has by about 50 per cent.
