NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS1130) – It’s unclear if charges will be laid after a man drove a truck into the doors of the emergency room at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster.
It happened at 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
Staff Sergeant Todd Matsumoto says it’s amazing no one was hurt.
“The truck came to a rest about 50 feet into the lobby area. There is a fair amount of damage to the hospital,” explains Matsumoto. “The status right now of the driver is the driver is being medically assessed.”
He says there is no word as to what caused the driver to lose control.
“New West police have had the accident investigators and our Forensic Identification Services team out at the scene. The vehicle has been removed and the Health Authority has already started repairing the damage to the building.”
Matsumoto says there was no one else in the truck at the time.
