VICTORIA (NEWS1130)  – An ad posted online has offered a baby ‘free to a good home’ on Vancouver Island.

Victoria Police Cst. Mike Russell says they’re trying to track down whomever posted it.

“The wording on this one was a little bit different, it did seem like someone was in need of getting rid of a child, but we don’t know if it’s made in jest or made as a prank or if it’s actually the real thing,” he explains.

“We’re certainly hoping it’s a hoax, in a sick sort of way that would be, it’s not a funny hoax, but I’d rather see that than some child who actually is being offered up for free.” .

The posting on Used Victoria has been taken down.
