SURREY (NEWS1130) – It could’ve been worse.
A contract worker cutting power poles in Surrey was forced to leap out of his bucket 16 feet below to safety because of a fire.
Megan Johnston with WorkSafeBC says the man’s saw ran out of fuel, but when he re-filled it, that’s when he got into trouble.
“When he resumed sawing, some of the gas had spilled and ignited, and he jumped from the bucket because of the flames, and he’s lucky,” she says.
The man escaped with only minor injuries.
