VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed winger Alex Burrows to a four-year contract extension, keeping the 31-year-old with the only team he’s played for in seven NHL seasons.

Burrows had 52 points (28-24) in 80 games with the Canucks last season. He has spent most of his recent years skating with the Sedin twins on the top forward line. The Canucks had been trying to finish a new contract for Burrows before the expiration of the current NHL collective bargaining agreement, which expires tomorrow night.

The native of Pincourt, Quebec has developed a reputation as a gritty forward with a scoring touch in his time in Vancouver. He also holds the club record for most career overtime playoff goals (three) and is tied for most series-winning goals (two).

The Canucks are still trying to work out a new deal with defenceman Alex Edler.
