Lions clean up in weekly CFL awards

TORONTO, ON (NEWS1130) –  Three BC Lions have been honoured with CFL weekly player awards for their play in the Lions 28-23 victory over the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday.

Quarterback Travis Lulay was named Offensive Player of the Week after completing 24 of 40 passes and throwing for 390 yards and two touchdowns. Lulay also carried the ball twice for a total of 42 yards.

Lions kick returner Tim Brown was named the Special Teams Player of the Week. The speedy Brown had three kick returns for a total of 77 yards, plus 52 yards on five punt returns and added 22 yards on a missed field goal for a total of 151 total yards.

Shawn Gore was named Canadian Player of the Week. The former Bishop’s University star had a touchdown on three receptions, and also carried the ball once for 17 yards.

The Lions returned to practice today in preparation for a visit to Edmonton to play the Eskimos on Saturday.
