SURREY (NEWS1130) – A 50-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a semi-truck this morning in Surrey.

It happened at the intersection of 104th Avenue and 148th Street shortly before 7:30 a.m.

Surrey RCMP say the semi was driving eastbound on 104th Avenue when it hit the woman who was walking northbound on 148th Street in the crosswalk.

BC Ambulance Service pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Mounties have the intersection closed until 1 p.m.
