VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The American Presidential race is heating up, and now there’s a local spin to it.

Local writers Brian Calvert and Chris Cannon are hoping to bring some levity to what they call ‘a brutal bi-partisan campaign’ down south in their book America, But Better.

The Canada Party wants to take over the Oval Office, pointing to our superior record on health care, crime prevention and most importantly, Bigfoot sightings.

Calvert says even though it’s all tongue-in-cheek, the reaction in the US has been surprising.

“Feedback we’ve got has been fantastic. There really is a feeling of a desperate situation down there right now where it’s gone far beyond voting for the lesser of two evils,” he explains. “A lot of people feel that the whole process has let them down and they want another option.”

“Despite the fact that our [party] isn’t necessarily 100 per cent real, Americans feel a little bit excited that somebody else is stepping up and that somebody else is laughing at it and recognizing the hypocrisy as well,” adds Calvert.

The Canada Party YouTube video has been taking the Internet by storm, with over one-million views.

Calvert and Cannon will be holding a town hall meeting in Vancouver Thursday to promote their platform.
