EDMONTON, AB (NEWS1130) – The BC Lions (8-3) will look to avenge their only home loss of the season as they’re in Northern Alberta to take on the Edmonton Eskimos (5-6) at Commonwealth Stadium.
The Eskimos earned a 27-14 win over the Lions at BC Place on July 20th, the only loss for the Leos at the stadium since it re-opened last year.
Since their last meeting, the teams have gone in different directions. The Lions have won six of their past seven games, while Edmonton is riding a three-game losing streak.
The last time the two teams met things got a little rough. BC defensive lineman Khalif Mitchell was hit with a two-game suspension for hyperextending the arm of Eskimos offensive lineman Simeon Rottier. Rottier missed three games with the injury.
The Lions are in first place in the West Division, one game ahead of the Calgary Stampeders. The Stamps take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders tomorrow. Edmonton is tied for last in the division with the Riders.
Lions quarterback Travis Lulay has thrown a touchdown pass in 22 straight games, which is the second longest streak of its kind in CFL history.
Linebacker Solomon Elimimian is back with the Leos after a failed attempt at making the NFL, but he likely won’t suit up against the Eskimos. Elimimian is nursing a strained hamstring but coach Mike Benevides says it’s possible he could see some work on special teams.
Game time is 4:30 p.m.
