NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Well-prepared thieves have made off with a piece of heavy duty machinery from the Northlands Golf Course in North Vancouver.
A bobcat, worth about $44,000, went missing sometime Tuesday morning.
RCMP Cpl. Richard de Jong says the culprits knew what they were doing.
“They gained access to the locked compound. There were security lights and the bobcat itself had a lockout security activated on it and that was bypassed,” he explains.
There is a market for stolen equipment.
“Because they’re worth $44,000 they are worth the effort for somebody to take them to a chop shop where they are sold for parts or sold in other industrial-type environments.”
A couple of months ago an $180,000 excavator went missing in North Vancouver.
The 2010 ‘Bobcat’ excavator is described as:
Model: S630
Color: white and red
Serial #: A3NT11682
Engine serial #: DEO807
