CHILLIWACK (NEWS1130) – Three young men have been arrested after Mounties say they were street racing on Highway 1 near Chilliwack on Saturday.

RCMP Sergeant Peter Thiessen says they used a technique that police have seen before.

“They’ll have several vehicles on the freeway — in this case, driving slowly and holding back the traffic behind them while their counterparts in front of them speed down the highway,” he describes.

All of the suspects are either 19 or 20 years old.

Each has been handed a $196 fine and their licences have been taken away. Only one had a valid BC driver’s licence; the others had Chinese National drivers licences only valid while they’re attending school in the province.
