FRASER VALLEY (NEWS1130) – You could be one of hundreds of potential victims in what Mounties are calling a sophisticated fraud operation in the Fraser Valley.
A thousand pieces of ID have been recovered by police.
Dawn Robberstad, 40, has been arrested after a search of her home. Mounties say they found stacks of credit cards, drivers licences, and other identification; they even found grocery store club memberships.
“It was definitely more of a complex fraud investigation in that we believe it was not just fraud in purchases being made, but actually production of fraudulent credit cards,” explains Corporal Kurt Bosnell.
He explains Robberstad has a record, and is linked to multiple car break-ins.
“[She's] somebody that had been on our radar for some time. It was just a matter of doing the investigation into her to get the grounds for a search warrant,” he tells us.
Bosnell adds the case dates back to 2009; he’s warning you not to leave valuables or your ID in the car. “These things get into these people’s hands; you can have your vehicle broken into… and still be a victim of fraud years later.”
