ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – After two shootings in two years on the very same block in Abbotsford, police are dusting off some old equipment to try and catch the person or people responsible.

Cameras originally bought to monitor the Bacon brothers will be keeping watch.

First up is Bradner Road near Simpson Road. It’s a known trouble spot police hope to make a break in says Constable Ian MacDonald.

“Whenever we have incidents like that, we consider all of the tools we could bring that would enhance public safety, maybe act as a deterrent…and as a last line of defence gather evidence. If there is a reasonable place to deploy, then we have to look at that,” believes MacDonald.

In January 2011, a woman was narrowly missed by a bullet while driving in the area. Last September a man was shot in the arm while behind the wheel.

“The happy ending for us would be the successful arrest and prosecution of the persons involved. In the meantime, that equipment has been allocated there for the next two weeks.”
