VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The last two months have been very dry, but Metro Vancouver’s water supply is still in good shape.
The Metro’s Bill Morrell says it’s all because of the wet weather we had in the spring into the start of summer.
“Currently we’re at about 63 or 64 per cent of storage capacity, which is well within our operating range for this time of year and we’re confident we’ll be in good shape until the rains finally do show up, which I think we all know they will,” Morrell notes.
He says we only use about one per cent of our reserves each day.
“A good wet spring, perhaps not weather-wise, but certainly in terms of the water supply, we started out in a very good position and are still pretty strong and don’t see any potential issue until the rains do come back.”
The situation is a lot different on the Sunshine Coast. The hot, dry conditions could force a ban on the all outdoor water use.
