British Columbian jobs going to retail, construction

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Unemployment numbers released today show BC added nearly 6,000 jobs last month.

Danley Yip with Robert Path Management says more people are getting back into the labour market after taking the summer off.

He says there’s also a lot of consumer demand right now and people are spending money in retail; that means a lot of jobs are opening up in that industry right now.

“The jobs that I’m seeing are coming from retail and wholesale; there’s been a big jump there. Construction is still very robust. IT field has always been very strong and is continuing to see that momentum,” explains Yip.

He tells us industries that are not seeing growth include support services and natural resources.
