SURREY (NEWS1130) – Two men are in hospital this morning after a fight broke outside a Surrey restaurant.

It happened near 176th Street and 64th Avenue. RCMP Staff Sergeant Bob Pinkewycz tells us about a dozen people were involved in the scuffle at around 1 a.m.

“A group of four that was heading into a restaurant… they were met by another group. Words were exchanged and another group came from the side of the building and the fight broke out,” explains Pinkewycz.

Two men were stabbed; they made their way back to a home, at which point police and ambulance were called. The men are now in stable condition. Another person was hit with bear spray.

“I don’t think it was gang-related. It may have been just a random group meeting another random group; the motives are unclear,” adds Pinkewycz.

Mounties are looking at video and canvassing for witnesses. But so far, there have been no arrests.

Another stabbing in Richmond

Mounties in Richmond are also investigating a stabbing.

It happened around 11 p.m. at a house on Smith and Gilley, where a woman was stabbed several times in her chest. She’s in hospital in stable condition.

Police are still looking for a suspect but say the house is known to them
