VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – As NHL rinks remain silent on what is supposed to be the opening day of the season, condolences have been replaced with love notes to Justin Bieber on the Rick Rypien memorial wall outside Rogers Arena.
Right next to where a Rypien fan wrote “Thank you Rick for your inspiration,” someone wrote “I love Justin Bieber.”
It’s just one of about 10 Bieber love notes that popped up after last night’s concert and people on Twitter are pretty upset.
“To whoever destroyed the memorial, do you understand what I would do to you if I was in a room with you?” writes one user.
“It’s just sad. Canucks fans have been expressing their grief on the wall since Rypien died in August of last year,” writes another.
One person even signed her full name on the wall and she’s getting most of the wrath on Twitter; people online are calling her an idiot and many are going much further. The girl has now deleted her Twitter account.
Jared showed up with some nail polish remover and paper towels; he tried to scrub away the Bieber messages.
“People make mistakes, but this is pretty bad. It’s mental health awareness week, so that’s kind of like a slap in the face, too,” he tells us.
Former Canucks forward Rick Rypien battled depression before he was found dead in August of last year.
