VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Grab a broom and your rocks! The Vancouver Curling Club is celebrating a big milestone this season.

Curling has seen its ups and downs over the past century, but the sport is certainly still riding the swell of popularity since 2010.

Club president Scott Allen says it’s a varied bunch of bonspielers.

“We’ve got folks from ages eight to 93 that play on a weekly basis. We’ve got all spectrums of the socioeconomic community and we also have the gay and lesbian and transgender league in the city,” notes Allen.

“We do have a few teams in our various leagues that do enjoy the retro dress,” he says, adding everyone in encouraged to come out to the Celebrate the Decades Funspiel. “All participating teams will be encouraged to dress in curling attire, anywhere from 1912 right through to 2000.”

Each player is guaranteed four, four-end games, a day full of great curling on the ice and lots of fun off the ice.
