ROSEMONT, IL (NEWS1130) – Goaltender Eddie Lack’s AHL shutout streak lasted 110 minutes and 36 seconds to start the season, as the Canucks’ farm club in Chicago defeated the Rockford Icehogs 5-3, to start the season with two wins.

On Saturday, Lack and the Chicago Wolves blanked the IceHogs 1-0 in a shootout.

In Sunday’s contest, Andrew Ebbett of the Wolves scored the lone goal of the first period.

Chicago’s Nathan Longpre scored the first of his two goals, short-handed near the eight-minute mark of the middle period. It was 2-0 baby Canucks after 40 minutes.

The teams each scored three times in the final period.

Brett Sterling made it 3-0, before Rockford’s Jeremy Morin finally scored a goal on Lack, five and a half minutes into the sixth period of the doubleheader, on the power play.

The Blackhawks’ affiliate followed that goal with another man-advantage marker two minutes later by Marcus Kruger, which cut the score to 3-2. Longpre bagged the game winner near the middle part of the final period to seal the win.

Left winger Bill Sweatt finished off the Chicago scoring, which was set up by Zack Kassian.

Defenceman Kevin Connauton added two assists for the Wolves.

Chicago hosts Peoria on Wednesday, before playing in Abbotsford next Friday and Saturday.
