VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A familiar face is leaving the Vancouver Police Department‘s media section.

You’ve heard him almost daily on News1130 and have probably seen his face at every crime scene shown on the 6 o’clock news. VPD spokesperson Lindsey Houghton is moving on to a new role with a combined forces unit.

Before he left, he shared some of his more memorable moments with the media.

“Being asked by a local reporter if the Vancouver Police Department keeps track of how much money is thrown into fountains around the city and if we know how much is stolen from those fountains every year. I still haven’t figured that one out,” he laughs.

“A very disappointed Ukrainian television crew came to interview me outside of 2120 Cambie here during the Olympics and the first questions they asked was where was my red jacket and if I had a horse. They were very disappointed when I said no,” he adds.

Houghton says the trust the department put in him has been humbling.

The VPD has two new media relations officers — Constables Brian Montague and Randy Fincham.
