VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Charges have been laid after a 10-hour standoff at a hotel in Vancouver this week.
Ranjit Singh Sandhu, 27, of Surrey is charged with weapons offences.
He apparently walked into the Fairmont Pacific Rim with a handgun on Monday; officers locked down the building and the surrounding area for most of the day.
The standoff ended when police shot him in the leg with an ARWEN gun. No one else was hurt.
Sandu is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.
Mounties have confirmed he is the same person accused of crashing a pick-up truck into the front entrance of Royal Columbian Hospital in September.
He will be back in court on Friday.
