NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Put away the hiking shoes!

Tim Jones with North Shore Rescue says the Grouse Grind is now closed after a dangerous night for people coming down the mountain.

“[There's] about 20 centimetres of snow at the alpine… last night, we did the patrols… and we had a surge of people coming down. There was a bit of a line-up,” says Jones.

“We had surge of hikers, some who were in sandals and t-shirts, coming down with snowfall and darkness… so, a little bit of a gong show last night that we had to deal with,” he adds.

The condition of the trail will be looked at later this week to see if it’s going to be closed for the remainder of the season.
