LOUISIANA (NEWS1130) – A Burnaby Fire Captain continues his cycling journey, riding through 30 countries to raise awareness and money for three of the top cancers.

It’s the Thirty4Three Firefighter Global Cyclist For Charity.

Rudy Pospisil was diagnosed about 10 years ago and his life lessons led him to want to help others facing a similar diagnosis. Cancer free now, he is pushing his body to the extreme every single day.

Rudy just left Texas and is now in Louisiana where he says the environment is pretty wild. “There’s swamp and all kinds of reptiles I’m not used to and probably have every kind of bite you could get despite putting on repellant.”

Rudy adds the folks are different too as he cycled by some of them skinning raccoons on their front porch. But he’s also glad to leave Texas behind considering how stark much of the state was and then there was the run in with the law.

A Sheriff in a small town stopped him, thought Rudy was trying to rustle cattle but Rudy says all he had was some bungee cords and he could only think how hard that would be to drag any cattle behind him.

Rudy would love it if you could help his cause. He gets an email from everyone who donates and says at the end of the day writing back to folks really helps keep him motivated and gives him the strength to take on the next leg of his inspiring journey.
