VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – We want bathrooms! That’s coming from SkyTrain users across the Lower Mainland. But unfortunately it’s just not going to happen says TransLink‘s Drew Snider.

He says as far as the entire system is concerned, this is not something they can feasibly to do.

“We understand the situation. People talk about it in Richmond, it’s talked about in Vancouver. All sorts of places people say they’re really caught out but the fact of the matter is, it is an expense and our mandate is to provide transit services,” Snider says. “There’s also the cost of simply maintaining and providing security over the restrooms.”

He advises you to come up with a plan that doesn’t include the next station stop. “People have to look to other areas, other ways of solving that problem.”

Snider says down the road, TransLink may re-assess the situation.

TransLink is facing a budget shortfall of over $400 million over the next three years.
