VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A new bus stop offers up another option for Lower Mainland travelers heading to Bellingham’s airport.

BoltBus made headlines in the spring when it launched its service between Vancouver and Seattle with fares as low as a dollar.

Its new stop at Cordata Station in Bellingham drops passengers off at a strategic location, says  Ken Oplinger, with the Whatcom County Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s very close to the mall, and about a mile from the airport. Taxi cabs in Bellingham are fairly inexpensive, you can do the trip to the airport for less than ten bucks.”

Plus it’s great news for people who just want to cross-border shop.

“Generally it’s always been by vehicle. For those who have limited access to vehicles or people who live in urban centres in the Lower Mainland where they don’t need to own a vehicle for their regular trips, this gives them another way to get to Bellingham,” Oplinger points out.

The average BoltBus fare one way to Bellingham is $4, and it runs four times a day. That’s compared to $22  on Greyhound and $26 for the shuttle to the Bellingham airport.
