EDMONTON, AB (NEWS1130) – The Edmonton Oil Kings scored three third period goals to dump the Vancouver Giants 5-1. The Giants’ lone goal came in the second period when Marek Tvrdon potted his fourth goal of the weekend.
After a hat trick and a four-point night in Fridays 4-1 win over Victoria, Tvrdon scored his fifth of the season on the power play to cut Edmonton’s lead to 2-1.
The Oils Kings were up 2-0 after the first period, and 2-1 after 40 minutes.
Edmonton had five different goal scorers and Delta native Tristan Jarry had the win in goal, stopping 29 shots.
Vancouver’s Liam Liston made 26 saves and has lost six games between the pipes this season.
The Giants’ second game of the five game road trip will be in Lethbridge on Tuesday.
