VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Police say they are very concerned about what they are calling an attempted abduction near Templeton Secondary yesterday afternoon.
A 16-year-old girl says she was approached by three men near Lakewood and East Pender Street, who were driving around in a blue van just after the noon hour.
“The men yelled at the girl attempting to convince her to get into the van,” explains VPD Sgt. Randy Fincham. “The girl ran to the safety of a nearby store where she called 9-1-1. Officers responded but were unable to find the suspects or the van.”
The girl wasn’t hurt, but police say she was quite frightened.
The van is described as an “electric blue work van” with white and black lettering on the side, with a sliding door on the left side.
Police say the driver of the van was South Asian, in his late 20s to early 30s. He’s described as having stubble on his face and wearing all black clothing. There is no description of the other two men.
“We are looking into if it is connected to any other incident. As of yet we haven’t found anything,” adds Finchman.
If you have any information about this incident, you’re asked to contact the Vancouver Police Robbery Assault and Arson Unit at (604) 717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
