ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – You can get a free anti-theft device if you drive one of the top five most stolen cars in Abbotsford, as police try to improve its reduction in car thefts.
Constable Ian MacDonald says they’ve cut auto thefts by 44 per cent in the last year, “specifically, of owners of pre-2001 Honda products and owners of Dodge pickups, Dodge caravans and Ford pickups.”
“We think that we can drive those numbers down and frustrate even more auto thieves,” he adds.
“We’re going to be giving away some steering wheel locks… for free to owners of any of those types of vehicles who are Abbotsford-registered owners,” explains MacDonald.
You can get the device at Seven Oaks Mall tomorrow (10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.) or Saturday (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), or by going to the Community Policing Office on Marshall Road this week.
