VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Police have identified the city’s eighth and latest homicide victim.
Alexander Julian Liang, 21, was shot and killed Wednesday night just after 10:30 p.m. at a home on East 6 Ave. and Windermere Street. The man died at the scene.
VPD Sergeant Randy Fincham can’t say whether gangs or drugs were motives in this shooting. “We don’t know at this time. We’ll be looking into this to see what his connections were with anybody else.”
“The victim is known to police and early indications are this was a targeted attack. No suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing,” adds Fincham.
Court documents show Liang had been facing multiple criminal charges that include production of controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking, unlawful confinement, use of an imitation fire arm, and robbery.
Neighbours are surprised and very concerned by the violence; they tell us it’s usually a very quiet area. We spoke with one woman who was celebrating Halloween just a few doors down from where the victim was shot. “That’s not very good to have happen in a neighbourhood like this. I mean, there’s kids, there were tons of kids out here at 10:30 or 11 o’clock.”
