RICHMOND (NEWS113) – A new high-end mall planned for Russ Baker Way in Richmond is moving, and the City of Richmond is thrilled.

After some studying, the Vancouver Airport Authority decided to move the mall closer to the Templeton Canada Line Station.

Richmond mayor Malcolm Brodie believes the move makes sense.

“The new location will definitely be better because it is going to be transit-oriented, so people will be able travel to and from that mall,” he explains. “It’s going to reduce the number of parking stalls that the mall will need and take some cars off the road.”

Brodie also says having the mall closer to the actual airport will encourage people in between flights to go shopping, since travel on the Canada Line is free for passengers staying on Sea Island.

No exact date has been given when the mall will open.
