SURREY (NEWS1130) – It’s been a long shift for homicide investigators after a woman was found dead in a home in Surrey last night.

Neighbours are saying the woman was probably in her twenties but police aren’t telling us much about her. Her body was found in the rented basement suite at around 7 p.m.

The home on 148A Street near 84th Avenue is next to Maple Green elementary school.

“I would presume that the crime scene itself will be held at minimum, 24 hours, if not longer,” says RCMP Corporal Adam MacIntosh with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Details of the death have not been released.

News1130 spoke with a neighbour who’s lived in the area for 22 years; he says there’s never been a problem in the neighbourhood before. He can’t remember police being called to the home before, either.

Police say the woman is no stranger to the home; they’ve been talking to the owners, who live upstairs.
