SURREY (NEWS1130) – The BC Transportation Ministry says security has been beefed up along access points of Surrey’s South Fraser Perimeter Road after someone was able to get on the unfinished highway, posting their joyride to YouTube.

News1130 has learned the barriers were taken down one night to allow pavers in and now gates and signage are now back up.

The provincial government says trespassing on an unopened highway is not only a possible criminal offence, but is dangerous as parts of the road might not be finished and workers could be on site.

The road is set to partially open early next month.

The joyride video, incidentally, has been pulled from YouTube.
