VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Windows will have to be replaced on SkyTrain, thanks to vandals striking the trains with some kind of objects last night.

Anne Drennan with Transit Police says three windows were hit as the train was arriving at 29 Avenue Station in Vancouver at about 8:50 p.m.

“Fortunately, nothing penetrated the windows, so there were no injuries, although there were passengers on the train cars who were frightened, to say the least,” explains Drennan.

Investigators are trying to figure out what exactly was lobbed at the trains.

“Whatever they were, they were fairly light-weight because they didn’t enter the train,” says Drennan.

Transit Police are looking into whether the vandals tossed the objects from a stand of trees west of Kaslo Street.

Last week, someone planted a bomb on the line between Gateway and Scott Road Stations. The bomb hadn’t gone off before it was located and the three canisters tied to the explosive device were not filled with anything dangerous.
