BCAA gets behind electric car initiative

By

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – Recently Metro Vancouver said it was moving forward with plans to install charging stations for electric vehicles. And now BCAA is getting behind the initiative and they have the help of a very famous Vancouver man.

Former Vancouver Canucks forward Trevor Linden spent the other day giving people free cab rides in an electric car. The idea was to familiarize people, including Linden, with the technology he thinks a lot of people still have questions about.

“I don’t have one, but I tell you what after driving one you don’t know that it is electric.  I think the most impressive thing about electric vehicles is the cost to recharge.”

It costs about $2 to juice up the car and when you think of it, it could cost anywhere between $60 to $100 to fill your car up with gas.

“In the future [the technology] is only going to get better and better.  I think a lot of the unknowns, I think will be answered.  There are a lot of questions, but that’s why BCAA is taking the initative,” he adds.

You can plug in all around town and it’s free for anyone at BCAA’s Burnaby location.
