VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you’re looking to take time to honour our fallen soldiers this weekend, there are a lot of ceremonies for you and your family to attend.

The largest ceremony takes place at the Cenotaph in Victory Square on West Hastings and Cambie Street beginning at 10:30 a.m., but you can also attend a special lighting of the Olympic Cauldron at Jack Poole Plaza a few hours before at 8 a.m.

Staying in Vancouver, there’s a parade from John Oliver Secondary on 41 Ave. to the Memorial South Park cenotaph at 10 a.m., and UBC is holding a 10:45 a.m. ceremony at its War Memorial Gym which is expected to attract over 1,000 people.

There will be a moment of silence at the Japanese Monument near the Vancouver quarium in Stanley Park, while Chinese service men and women will be honoured at the Chinatown Memorial Square at Colombia and Keefer Streets a little after noon.

Richmond cadets are holding a sunrise ceremony at the Cenotaph on Granville and No. 3 Road before marching to city hall for a wreath laying.

In Coquitlam, you can march from the Como Lake Middle School Gym to the Cenotaph on Porter Street at 10 a.m. and Surrey’s ceremonies start at 10:15 a.m. at the Cenotaph at Museum Square before a moment of silence.

Out in the Fraser Valley, Abbotsford pays its respects at the Cenotaph in Thunderbird Memorial Square off Veterans Way, while a parade of veterans leaves Langley’s Liquidation World on Logan Avenue and heads to the Legion on 56th Avenue at 10 a.m.

And don’t forget, if you have veteran plates on your vehicle, it’s free parking at any City of Vancouver metres, EasyPark parkades and at surface lots all weekend.
