VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Around the world today people are taking part in the largest festival celebrated by the South Asian community and there are events being held throughout BC too.

“The triumph of good over evil, a symbol of inner light and the light that exists in everyone. [The] light over darkness anything of these types of universal principles,” explains Avinashi.
Its date is based on the Hindu lunar calendar and usually falls in either October or November. It is celebrated by many South Asian religions and cultures, each with their own special meaning.
Food is always a big part of any Diwali celebration and everyone is welcome to take part in the live music, dancing and workshops on site.
Avinashi says the Vancouver event promises to be full of colour and adventurous fusion performances. “There are quiet a few different cultures incorporated into our agenda.”
