VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – You may have noticed more hairy upper lips around you — and the look of despair on some of the women dealing with their newly-moustachioed men.

This is the tough part of Movember, when those fund-raising moustaches are getting bushier and maybe a little tougher to take in… um… more “intimate” situations.

“We love our Mo’ Sistas. It’s critical that our Mo’ Sistas support us on our journey because, in many cases, they are the leaders who organize events and they certainly get men to go to the doctor and get their annual check-ups,” says Pete Bombaci, National Director of Movember Canada.

“There are Mo’ Sistas who’re still not fond of the follicles on the upper lip during the month of Movember,” he admits. “But we do see this changing and it’s an inspiration to see that Mo’ Sistas are coming on. [It's] no different than men who have certainly supported the women’s health movement.”

“I see a lot of women out there today, even if they don’t like it, who still say to their men, ‘Okay, you can grow it because I know why you’re doing it and I want to have you around for a long time.’”

Movember’s moustaches help support prostate cancer and mental health research. More than $12 million has been raised in Canada alone over the last decade.

With that in mind, is it really that bad to kiss a moustachioed man?

“I can’t speak from experience on the other side, but I can tell you when a Mo’ Sista and Mo’ Bro come together, in my case, it certainly seems like a wonderful combination,” he laughs.
