TORONTO, ON (NEWS1130) – Pavel Bure never won a Stanley Cup or Hart Trophy, but the Russian forward was the most electric scorer of his generation.
Bure helped re-invigorate a fan base in Vancouver beginning in 1991 with game-breaking speed and dynamic play-making that was unmatched during his seven seasons with the Canucks.
Tonight, he will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame with three other impressive stars: Joe Sakic, Adam Oates and Mats Sundin.
Bure was nicknamed the “Russian Rocket” and collected a highlight reel of plays during his 12 NHL seasons that included lacing up with the Florida Panthers and the New York Rangers. He averaged just over 36 goals per season, including two 60-goal campaigns.
Bure retired after the 2002–03 season due to lingering effects of a knee injury, even after two operations.
