ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) - It’s a battle for top spot in the American Hockey League’s North Division tonight when the Abbotsford Heat host the Lake Erie Monsters at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre.
The Heat (7-1-1-2) trail the Monsters (9-4-0-0) by just a point for top spot in the North Division. The two teams split their only two meetings of the season back in late October in Cleveland.
A pair of Heat players is closing in on new franchise marks in scoring. Ben Walter is a single point behind Jon Rheault for the all-time mark in franchise points, while Krys Kolanos is currently tied with Cam Cunning in career goals scored for the Heat.
The Heat have played 10 of their first 13 games at home and the Abbotsford Sports and Entertainment Centre has been good to them so far this season. Abbotsford has earned at least a point in each of their eight games on home ice this season.
The Monsters are closing out a season-long seven game road trip. Faceoff is 7 p.m.
