RCMP making funeral arrangements for Mountie killed in crash

SURREY (NEWS1130) – Funeral arrangements are still being organized for the Mountie killed yesterday in the line of duty.

The officer is charge at Surrey RCMP, Superintendent Bill Fordy, is expressing his gratitude today.

“The immense outpouring of support being shown by all levels of government and citizens from all walks of life, as well as by other law enforcement personnel and emergency services workers from across the country,” says Fordy.

Cst. Adrian Oliver, 28, died yesterday when his unmarked police cruiser was hit by a semi-trailer around 5 a.m. It happened at the intersection of 148th Street and 64th Avenue in Surrey and the RCMP says they are still trying to piece together what happened, adding there may have been a video camera at the intersection that recorded the crash.

If you want to send me a message in support to Oliver’s family you can visit the BC RCMP website.

Fordy says every message, email and flower sent is a reminder of the appreciation from the community for the ultimate sacrifice paid by Oliver.

Oliver, a three and a half year member of the RCMP, is also a second generation Mountie. His father and twin brother also serve.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Constable Oliver’s family and loved ones. They are dealing with the greatest of losses, but are comforted by the love and support they have received from coast to coast,” Fordy adds.
