VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Whitecaps FC and Director of Soccer Operations Tom Soehn have gone their separate ways. The one-time interim Head Coach did not have his contract renewed after three years in Vancouver.

The ‘Caps will not hire a replacement, saying the club’s current technical team will assume Soehn’s duties.

Current Head Coach Martin Rennie has been behind most of Vancouver’s on-field personnel decisions for the past year.

Soehn took over as the interim Coach of the Whitecaps in the spring of 2011, after Teitur Thordarson was dismissed after a dozen games in the clubs first year of Major League Soccer. Under the Chicago native’s direction, the ‘Caps had five wins, a dozen losses and five ties.

On the team’s website, President Bob Lenarduzzi said,

“Tommy played an important role in building our club as we transitioned from the North American second tier to Major League Soccer. We are thankful for his hard work and dedication during his three years with the club and wish him all the best with his future endeavours.”

Soehn added, “I enjoyed my experiences in Vancouver and look forward to the next opportunity.”
