Silvertips come back to edge Giants

EVERETT, WA (NEWS1130) – Reid Petryk’s second goal of the game with less than five minutes to go, gave the Silvertips a 6-5 victory over Vancouver in the WHL. The Giants season high win streak ends at two games.
After trailing 3-1 in the first period, Vancouver rattled off three straight goals before Petryk’s first of the game tied the game at 4-4 with 41 seconds to go in the second period.
Taylor Vickerman’s second goal of the season gave the G-Men a 5-4 advantage five minutes into the third period, but Everett’s Ty Mappin tied it up just over a half dozen minutes later.
Brett Kulak and Trevor Cheek each had a goal and an assist for the Giants. Kale Kessy potted his third of the weekend for Vancouver.
The ‘Tips were without defenceman Ryan Murray who dislocated his shoulder in a Friday night loss at Victoria. The second overall NHL draft pick by Columbus in 2012 is out indefinitely.
Don Hay’s squad had won their last two games at home with 4-3 shootout victories over Prince George and Regina respectively.
The Giants host Saskatoon at 4 o’clock on Sunday afternoon at the Pacific Coliseum.
