SURREY (NEWS1130) – We’re hearing from some drivers who say a recently installed electronic billboard at the approach to the new Port Mann Bridge is too bright and distracting.
The City of Surrey says they plan to make some adjustments.
The Pattison billboard is still in the testing phase, it’ll be turned on permanently sometime between Dec. 1 and Dec. 15.
Jamie Boan with the city’s transportation department says similar complaints at the Pattullo Bridge were addressed two years ago and that’s probably what will happen here. “What we had them do was, they essentially dimmed the sign to where it becomes comfortable for drivers. We eliminated all the complaints we had originally received.”
He says the city will monitor the brightness level.
Surrey nixed a ban on electronic billboards in 2010 when it launched a pilot project.
