SEATTLE (NEWS1130) – There is no Amtrak service between Vancouver and Seattle, thanks to the weather.
Gus Melonas with BNSF Railway says there’s a 48-hour rail ban in place because of 10 different mudslides between Seattle and Everett.
“Crews responded, up to 40 personnel, they removed the trees, the rocks, the mud, the debris. (They) built new foundation under the tracks, but for precautionary measures, we’re not going to let the train run.”
Amtrak is running a bus between Vancouver and Seattle and could restart train service as early as Wednesday.
