VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The biggest fundraiser for the Salvation Army is now underway. “We are going to be blanketing the city as well as introducing a couple of new initiatives and ways for people to give,” says Lauren Chan with the group, who adds this year you can text your donations.
“Another option is go to fillthekettle.com so people can interact with the Salvation Army, set up their own digital iKettles and support that way as well.”
Of course you can still donate the old fashioned way; kettles will be set up around town until Christmas. “We’re all around the city. If you keep an eye out you’ll see us, especially in the downtown core for instance we’re at all the major intersections,” she adds.
The goal this year is to raise $4 million in BC and $21 million nationwide. “Please give and everything counts even if you think $5 donation, it’s really the thought behind it that makes the difference.”
