KAMLOOPS (NEWS1130) – The ER at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops was overwhelmed as more than two dozen patients were brought in from a bad accident on the Coquihalla last night.
The highway was closed for several hours near the Inks Lake turnoff when a tour bus carrying seniors, two semis, and three cars piled into each other.
Five people were rushed to hospital with critical injuries; 22 others treated on the highway and then taken in for monitoring.
It started when a truck jack-knifed in poor weather. The driver is said to have then stepped out his truck and was hit by another vehicle. He is among the five critically injured.
