DELTA (NEWS1130) – A lot has changed in 20 years and a time capsule being dug up at the 40th anniversary celebration for Burnsview Secondary tomorrow will likely prove it.

Five writing students put the capsule together in 1992 and hid it inside one of the school walls. Their now-retired teacher Karl Moser says it was quite a big deal when it was buried.

“The minister of education, the mayor, the school board chair, and the MLA [were there]. We had a letter from Brian Mulroney… [and a] with a number of things that the students selected were placed into a fire-proof safe.”

Moser can’t remember everything that went in, but he does recall a few things.

“The video tape of the MTV Music Awards for 1992. There’s a list of the songs that were popular, the movies that were popular, the sayings that were popular… What we wished for 2012 from the student council of 1992,” he lists.

He adds the capsule was almost lost during major renovations in 2005.
