KAMLOOPS (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Giants will look to snap a three-game losing streak this evening as they’ll take on the WHL‘s first-place team, the Kamloops Blazers.
The BC Division rivals will be meeting for just the first time this season. They’ll play each other seven more times before the season is over.
The Giants (7-16-0) sit last in the league, one point back of the Kootenay Ice. The Giants have lost three straight games, including a 3-0 shutout at the hands of the Portland Winterhawks on Wednesday.
Kamloops (19-6-2) has the most points in the league and the second-best winning percentage, behind only Portland. The Blazers haven’t been at their best recently, going 3-6-1 in their past 10 games. They’ve lost their past two games.
The Giants defence will be in tough as the top two WHL scorers play for Kamloops. JC Lipon leads the league with 51 points in 27 games, while teammate Colin Smith is just one point back with 50.
Trevor Cheek is the hottest Giant right now. The left winger has seven goals and two assists in his past seven games.
