SAN ANTONIO, TX (NEWS1130) – Goalie Barry Brust set a new AHL record of 268 minutes, 17 seconds without allowing a goal in the Abbotsford Heat’s 3-2 shootout win over the San Antonio Rampage. Carter Bancks had the game-winning goal.

Brust entered the game needing just over 18 minutes to break Johnny Bower’s record set with the Cleveland Barons in the late 1950s. The streak ended 16:36 into the second period when former Vancouver Giant James Wright scored on the power play.

Brust’s new record is just over 18 minutes better than Bower’s.

Brust is an unrestricted free agent.

The Rampage then scored 96 seconds later to take a 2-1 lead on a Quinton Howden lamp lighter.

Brett Olson tied the game 3-3 for Abbotsford with 13.7 seconds remaining in the third period.

In addition to Bancks, Sven Baertschi and Roman Horak scored in the shootout for the visitors.

The Heat will try and make it three wins in consecutive days in the lone star state, when they meet Houston on Sunday.
