VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – We’re hearing more and more about U.S. retailers moving into Canada.
The arrival of the American stores isn’t expected to stop Canadians from crossing the border to do their shopping. According to retail expert David Ian Gray, when stores like Target and Nordstrom hit Canada, they won’t be offering a lot of the same products they offer in the states.
He says Target will carry some Canadian designers to replace some American ones, and Nordstrom will be unlikely to carry so many high end products.
“The other thing is in stores where the square footage isn’t the same as in the United States, where the US stores are bigger, there will be less room for product here, so that will reduce the assortment as well.
Gray says people will always go down south to shop, because the trends show people like to make a weekend out of it.
